Every note we list is examined and authenticated against the same set of standards, and moves through a defined series of steps before it’s offered — so what you see on the page is exactly what arrives in your hands. That scrutiny doesn’t stop with us. Rare currency is vetted by one of the largest and most demanding communities of experts in any collecting field — most of them unpaid enthusiasts who know these notes cold — and in this market, an error doesn’t survive public scrutiny for long.
Like bullion or precious metals, rare currency is tangible, holds intrinsic value, and exists in genuinely limited supply. But unlike a silver bar — or, for that matter, most modern art — each note also carries the craftsmanship and boldness of the era that printed it. This is history you can hold, engraved to be looked at.
We list pieces when they’re ready, and when we’re ready to offer them — nothing here goes up just to fill space. Not every note is top grade, though many are. Personally, I’ve always had a soft spot for the ones that show a little honest wear — a well-traveled Confederate note especially — where you can admire the artwork and the color and still feel the hands it passed through, and imagine what it once bought.
